The Mission and Aims of the School

At The Forest School we are committed to the provision of the highest possible quality education for pupils who are experiencing a range of special educational needs.

Aims of the School

  • To understand and meet the special educational needs of the pupils on roll.
  • To increase each pupil's knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
  • To enable each pupil to be as independent as possible in organising themselves, looking after themselves and making informed choices for themselves.
  • To prepare the pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
  • To enable each pupil to access a broad and balanced curriculum including the National Curriculum, differentiated to meet his or her special educational needs.
  • To provide each pupil with an appropriate balance of challenge and support in their learning.
  • To provide for the spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical development of the pupils at the school.
  • To offer pupils opportunities to access accredited courses and to celebrate their successes.
  • To help each pupil to achieve success regardless of disability, gender, class, race or ethnic background and to develop in all our pupils a spirit of understanding, cooperation and respect for all members of the community.
  • To provide an inclusive educational experience for all of our pupils as appropriate to their special educational needs.
  • To engage the parents and carers of all of our pupils in an active partnership to the benefit of the social, intellectual and academic development of the pupils.
